Are the pictures sharp and in focus. How about the lighting? Are the faces evenly and nicely lit. I’m a stickler for catchlights appareling in the eyes. A catch light in a persons eyes bring life into their face. No catch light and the faces are dull and boring. Do the pictures look naturally retouched? Check out my blog post on retouching here. It’s also essential to consider the photographer’s level of experience and expertise. While a newcomer may offer competitive pricing, an established professional with a proven track record of successful weddings is more likely to deliver the level of service and quality you deserve. Most wedding venues ask for a photographer COI. certificate of insurance. Does the photographer participate in industry events and his he or she a member of professional organizations? I’m a member of WIPA, MPI, and I have attended countless NACE and other industry events.
Furthermore, pay close attention to the photographer’s communication style and customer service. A good wedding photographer should be responsive, attentive to your needs, and willing to work collaboratively with you to ensure that your vision is brought to life. Look for a professional who takes the time to understand your expectations, offers guidance and suggestions, and is committed to providing a seamless, stress-free experience from start to finish.
One of my biggest suggestions is to consider doing a pre wedding day engagement photo session. By taking pictures with your photographer in advance you can get a feel for the photographers personality, and judge the results of the photography.

One of the most significant advancements in wedding photography has been the development of high-resolution digital cameras as well as advanced lighting equipment. The camera a photographer uses could be one of extremely high quality or simply a good looking cheap camera. How does one know if the photographer is well equipped or just using cheap cameras that look good. I’m sure most couples aren’t too interested in learning about all the different camera models available and their selling prices. I could go on and on about the new medium format camera I recently purchased or the new computer system I own. However, that doesn’t mean anything to a bride or groom who doesn’t have to time to ask the photographer, what camera do you use? If you are a bride or groom or family member who is into equipment, I would love to talk shop. My suggestion is rather that get into an extended discussion about camera great as this question. Do you have camera insurance? How many different cameras do you own. Do you have a favorite camera? Then let them talk shop long enough to get an idea as to how they feel about equipment. I happen to shoot with everything from Canon to Nikon to Fuji and others. I also have a wide range of lenses to go with all this great.
