I shot this bridal portrait during a small wedding in Coral Gables FL. At the start of the wedding day I met the bride and groom at a beautiful park called Coral Gables Prado Entrance. At the park, I set up the first look between the Bride and Groom. They also had a old Rolls-Royce to take them to the wedding venue after the first look and some other portraits. We arrived at the La Jolla Ballroom before any of the wedding guest arrived so I had plenty of time to shoot bride and groom photos.
The La Jolla Ballroom has this beautiful balcony onthe top floor which I would imagine is very popular for bridal photos. As soon as we arrive the venue event planner wanted to make sure we got up there for photos. We did get up there and we shot many photos with the bride and groom on the upper balcony. However, I also took a look down and saw that beautiful brick walkway and the colorful flowers growing up the side of the building.
Over my years of photography I have learned that girls always look best when shot from a high angle. In addition a telephoto lens created what is known as compression which is also very flattering. This shot seemed like a no brainer. Bride and Groom from a high angle with those beautiful flowers and that old style walkway. I know I had nice shot in the making.
If you are planning a wedding at the La Jolla Ballroom Please feel free to give me a call. It's such a beautiful place. I would love to work there again and again.
