When it comes to bar mitzvah photography in South Florida, creativity is everything. Anyone can take a photo of a young man standing next to a chessboard—but that’s not what I do. My goal is always to create something that stops people in their tracks, something that feels cinematic, imaginative, and completely one-of-a-kind.
For Noah’s bar mitzvah, the theme was chess. Right away, I knew this was an opportunity to push beyond the expected and create something truly memorable. Chess is strategic, intellectual, and timeless—but visually, it can also be dramatic, powerful, and even a little mystical if you approach it the right way.
The image you’re looking at is the result of that mindset.

Most photographers would set up a chessboard, position the bar mitzvah boy next to it, and call it a day. That approach is safe—but it’s also forgettable. My approach is different. I treat every mitzvah like a creative assignment, not just a documentation job.
With Noah, I asked myself a simple question:
How do I turn chess into a story?
Instead of photographing a game, I wanted to create a world—a place where the pieces come to life, where Noah isn’t just playing chess… he’s part of it.
That’s where the idea of the queen came in.

From holding the pieces… to becoming part of the game ♟️🔥
Noah’s chess-themed bar mitzvah shoot turned into a larger-than-life work of art—so epic it became a centerpiece at his party. This is what happens when creativity meets vision.
In another image from Noah’s gallery, I took the concept in a completely different direction—one that shows just how far I’m willing to go to make a vision come to life.
We were photographing near an outdoor chess setup, and I literally picked up the queen piece, tucked it under my arm, and walked over to Starbucks with Noah. The result? A surreal, playful image of Noah sitting casually, having a drink, with the queen as his companion.
That’s not something you plan out on paper—it’s something you see in the moment. It’s instinct, experience, and a willingness to do whatever it takes to create something different.
For this featured image, I took that same concept and pushed it even further using a touch of AI-enhanced creativity to elevate the scene into something cinematic.
What you see in this image is not just a portrait—it’s a narrative.
Noah is positioned beside a regal queen chess piece that has been transformed into a character, complete with personality and presence. Behind them, the environment feels like a dramatic battlefield or a medieval kingdom—something straight out of a movie.
This is intentional.
My background in both photography and motion picture editing plays a huge role in how I see and create images. Early in my career, I worked in New York City assisting a Director of Photography and editing motion picture film. Later, I spent years in Los Angeles working in and around the Hollywood film industry.
That experience trained my eye to think in terms of storytelling, lighting, and mood—not just composition.
So when I approach a bar mitzvah portrait, I’m not thinking:
“Where should he stand?”
I’m thinking:
“What’s the story? What’s the emotion? What’s the visual impact?”

A bar mitzvah is a once-in-a-lifetime event. It’s not just a party—it’s a milestone, a rite of passage, and a deeply meaningful moment in a young person’s life.
Your photos should reflect that.
Years from now, Noah won’t just remember the speeches or the dancing—he’ll remember how it felt. And images like this bring that feeling back in a powerful way.
Creative photography does more than document—it elevates.
It turns a moment into something iconic.
I’ve been photographing weddings and bar/bat mitzvahs for decades, and I bring that experience into every event I shoot. As someone who is Jewish myself, I understand the significance of the day—not just from a professional standpoint, but from a personal one.
I know the traditions. I know the timing. I know the moments that matter.
From the Torah reading to the hora, from candle lighting to family portraits, I approach every mitzvah with precision and awareness. But beyond that, I bring a level of creativity that sets my work apart.
My journey started when I was just a kid with a camera. I learned how to develop film at a young age and went on to study Communications & Photography at Adelphi University in New York.
From there, I worked in some of the most demanding environments in the industry:
That foundation taught me what makes an image truly great—color, balance, contrast, timing, and most importantly, vision.
South Florida is full of talented photographers—but what separates one from another is creativity and consistency.
I pride myself on being one of the most creative photographers in the area, and images like this are exactly why.
Every mitzvah I shoot is approached with fresh eyes. I don’t recycle ideas. I don’t rely on templates. I look at your theme, your venue, your child’s personality—and I build something unique around it.
Whether your event is at a synagogue, a country club, a luxury hotel, or a private venue, I adapt and create accordingly.

While I’m based in South Florida, my work has taken me all over the world—from California and New York to France, Jamaica, Mexico, and beyond.
That level of exposure influences everything I do.
Clients aren’t just hiring me for photos—they’re hiring me for a level of quality and creativity that stands up anywhere in the world.
My work has been published in major magazines like:
And featured in professional photography books including The Wedding Photographer’s Handbook.
I’ve also received awards from organizations such as:
But at the end of the day, what matters most is how my clients feel when they see their images.
Noah’s chess-themed shoot is a perfect example of what happens when you combine experience with imagination.
We didn’t settle for ordinary.
We created something that reflects who he is, what his event represents, and how his family will remember this milestone for years to come.
That’s what I aim to do for every client.
