One of the highlights of visiting Juneau, Alaska, was taking a photography tour led by a local guide who knew exactly where to find some of the area's most photogenic landscapes.
As a photographer, this particular stretch of coastline immediately caught my attention. I loved the layers in the scene—the weathered driftwood and rocks in the foreground, the blue water, the forested shoreline, and the mountains disappearing into the clouds in the distance.
I photographed this with my 24-megapixel Fujifilm X-Pro2 and Fujifilm 16–55mm f/2.8 lens. The X-Pro2 is a relatively small camera, which made it a great travel companion, while the 16–55mm gave me the flexibility and image quality I wanted for landscapes like this.
For me, Alaska is one of those places where you don't have to search very hard for a photograph. Sometimes you simply have to stop, look around, and decide how you want to frame the incredible scenery in front of you.
