This is a wedding photograph I will always remember, I received a call from a Canadian Wedding planner who told me she always wanted to work with me but was waiting for the perfect wedding. After a few calls and many e-mails I found my self traveling to Punta Cana for this wedding. The wedding took place at the Majestic Elegance resort in Punta Cana. The wedding consisted of an Indian wedding on one day and a traditional wedding the next day. I loved the idea of getting to photograph 2 completely different types of weddings in two days.
Because I'm a South Florida based wedding photographer it's very easy for me to hop on a plane and travel to all the different wedding locations in the Caribbean. Over the years I have shot wedding pictures in Jamaica, Grand Cayman, Curacao and of course the Dominican Republic. I love traveling and photographing destination wedding is one of my favorite activities. For 3 days I was a Punta Cana wedding photographer, exploring the Majestic Elegance and seeking our as many cool locations as possible.
This photo was taken in the resort's shower which has those blue tiles. I saw those tiles and thought they would offer a great color contrast against the brides red dress. It was some of a strange set up and I had to raise the camera to on top of the shower wall to get the angle I wanted. Because I had the camera at such a high angle I had the bride and groom told their bodies away from the lens so that I could capture their faces in the photo.
They were great at posing and their positive attitudes really helped me get photos that showed the passion between them. The Majestic Elegance also has a beautiful beach and a pool that runs like a river through the entire resort. There was really endless places to create awesome wedding photos.
Because I have shot many Indian wedding as well as more traditional weddings I know about all the Indian traditions and events that were taking place during the 2 day wedding.
I actually posted an article on my old blog that features this entire wedding. Here is the link: Punta Cana Destination Wedding. If you visit this post you will get to see just how awesome the Majestic Elegance is.
If you are planning a destination wedding in South Florida or one of the Caribbean Islands please feel free to reach out to me. Traveling to any of the islands form South Florida is easy. I once received a call from a couple that was planning an elopement in the Bahamas. The call came in on a Friday afternoon and the wedding was on Saturday. I booked my evening flight and was ready and waiting to photograph their wedding the next day. It was really fun. Aside from photographing wedding in the Caribbean I have also visited most of the islands as a cruise passenger. Visiting on a cruise gives me the opportunity to explore the islands and make note of all the unique places to take wedding photos.
If you are interested in planning a wedding in Punta Cana, here is a list of wedding venues you should check out. I included both the venue name and a link to the resort's website.

While you are on your way to the islands don't forget to stop here in South Florida and spend some additional time checking out the sites here. As a South Florida wedding photographer, I have shot wedding in almost every beautiful hotel and resort in town. Because there is so much to do here, visiting is definitely worth you time. Wile you are here you can drive to the Keys on the Overseas Highways stoping to check out all the beautiful places. At the end of the Overseas Highway is Key West with it's beautiful sunsets and the best Key Lime Pie.
Planning a destination is always a great idea, especially if you live in a colder climate. What could be better than getting out of the cold and tying the knot in a exotic beautiful warm place. If you need any help planning your dream destination wedding, either in South Florida or any place in the Caribbean give me a call. I'm very happy to help you.
