There are many great reasons why I should be your wedding photographer. First, I have been formally trained in the art of wedding photography by the worlds best wedding photographers. After receiving my BA in Communications and photography I moved to Los Angeles where I worked with the most successful and talented wedding photographers in the world. Second, In addition to being a talented photographer, I'm also exceptional at the art of photo retouch and image creation. It's a known fact that at a wedding people sweat, clothes may not fit perfectly, wedding venues are required to have distracting exit signs and sometimes an occasional tummy tuck may be needed. While many South Florida wedding photographers may offer photo retouch they don't provide in house retouch and enhancements. Because my photography career started before Photoshop started I was quick to embrace this new computer based art. Basically if you have a photo that needs retouch or enhancements we are happy to offer this service free of charge. Third, I only use the latest camera gear and always being back up equipment. Actually I don't consider extra cameras at a wedding as back up gear. The term back up gear implies that the photographer has a main camera and a lower quality or older back up camera. I always being several camera to a wedding, each camera is a current model with the latest technology. I shoot with these cameras at the same time. This means that if a camera breaks the very second the bride is walking down the aisle my additional camera is either on me or next to me so and ready to fire. This means I can move from one camera to the next swiftly. Fourth, In addition to years of experience, the latest equipment and my Photoshop skills I also offer wedding album design. Wedding album design goes along with photo retouch in the sense that photographs never fit perfectly into an album perfectly. Many wedding photographers can take pictures but can't design custom album pages. Because of this lack of skill they use album templates and album design programs.

Erica Baldwin Featured in Dressy Magazine's Bridal Fashion Shoot

A Captivating Bridal Showcase at Deering Estate, Miami

Erica Baldwin brings elegance and grace to the stunning backdrop of Deering Estate in Miami, where Dressy Fashion Magazine chose to feature an exquisite collection of bridal gowns by an Israel-based designer. This picturesque location perfectly complements the ethereal beauty of the gowns, creating a truly enchanting visual narrative.

The Wardrobe

In this exclusive shoot, Erica wore a series of meticulously crafted gowns adorned with delicate veils and accented by a collection of beautiful flowers. Each piece in the collection highlights the designer's attention to fine detail and exquisite craftsmanship, making every gown a masterpiece in its own right.

A Photographer's Touch

If you look at my portfolio of wedding images, one thing you should notice is my dedication to achieving nice, even lighting and my keen attention to fine details. In this shoot, you can see how each element has been carefully considered to highlight the beauty of the bridal collection:

  • Lighting: Notice the beautiful backlighting that creates a halo effect around Erica, enhancing her natural glow. The soft and even lighting on her face ensures there are no harsh shadows, allowing her features to shine through.
  • Detail: Examine the intricate details of the wedding gowns, from the delicate lacework to the elegant draping. Every stitch and embellishment is captured with precision, showcasing the designer's craftsmanship.

The Result

The final images capture not only the stunning beauty of the bridal gowns but also the magical ambiance of the Deering Estate. Each photograph tells a story of romance and sophistication, making it a perfect feature for Dressy Fashion Magazine.

Pushing the Limits of Creativity in South Florida Wedding Photography

My Unique Style

Being left-handed has always fueled my creative and artistic streak. They say lefties are inherently more creative, and I like to think my work reflects that. Neuroscientists have shown that left-handers use the right hemisphere of their cerebrum, which is widely viewed as the seat of creativity, more often than right handers

Take, for instance, a recent shoot at the splendid Eau Palm Beach Hotel. Inside the hotel's spa, there's a glass door that leads to an outdoor terrace, flanked by the women's and men's locker rooms. The giant "W" and "M" on each side instantly sparked an idea in my mind. I envisioned the bride with the "W" and the groom with the "M." Making this vision a reality took some testing with different lens focal lengths and the cooperation of the bride and groom. The result? A one-of-a-kind photograph that perfectly captures my outside-the-box thinking. I would wager there's no other photo taken at The Eau quite like it. Do you love it? I hope you see the unique creativity it demonstrates.

My Inspirations

Before becoming a South Florida wedding photographer, I spent years in Los Angeles, rubbing shoulders with some of the best photographers in the world. One of my most memorable conversations was with the legendary Herb Ritts. He advised me to push beyond the norm, shoot even when the idea seems absurd, and make it happen. Herb's iconic shot of Andie MacDowell wearing a black veil on her head for Vanity Fair might not have been loved at first, but years later, it became one of his most famous works. I must admit, it does nothing for me but I'm not the famous Herb Ritts

I must admit, it does nothing for me but I'm not the famous Herb Ritts Another inspiration, Joe Buissink, taught me that even if people don't like your images, if they are unique, they will remember you. Joe would stand on tables or lie on floors to get that perfect shot. His unconventional methods have stuck with me throughout my career.

Then there's Bambi Cantrell, who once had me take pictures while standing in a dumpster behind her studio. Her lesson was clear: if the location sucks, find a way to make it special and unique.

Restored vintage original Marilyn Monroe pictures.

In the year 1995 I was commissioned the restore a collection of damaged Marilyn Monroe photographes taken by the famous Andre Diaz. They were found in his garage and very badly damaged. At the time I was a top notch photo printer working at one of the most prestigious black and white photo labs in Los Angeles. Working on his images gave me an intimate look at his photography and how he worked. Andre was not only a skilled photographer but he was also very inventive in the darkroom. I often apply his photo editing techniques in Photoshop when working on my wedding images. Andre Diaz was Norma Jeane Mortenson's first photographer. They became good friends and he photographed her for many years. Below are a few of the images I actually restored.

Other famous mentors include:

Jerry Ghionis whom I've spent countless hours learning from.

Susan Striplng whose workshops I have attended many times.

One of my signature techniques

One of my special offerings is Infrared photography, something I'm not sure any other South Florida wedding photographer provides. Inspired by Joe Bussink, I've embraced this unique form of photography. It's true that not everyone will love your work, but if it's unique, it will be remembered.

Conclusion

My approach to wedding photography is rooted in creativity and the pursuit of unique, memorable images. Inspired by some of the best in the industry, I push the limits of what’s possible to deliver photos that stand out. If you're ready to capture your special day with a touch of artistic flair and unparalleled creativity, let's connect. Book a consultation with me today and let's create something extraordinary together.
