As a wedding photographer in South Florida I have learned that I need to always be ready for anything. Just because the sun is shinning at 12:00 noon in Boynton Beach, doesn't mean the sun will be shinning at 12:30Pm in Jupiter.
This was certainly the case for this wedding. The weather was perfect when I left the house, the weather was even nice during the getting ready photo. Then just minutes before the First Look the clouds appeared. Then seconds after the Bride and Groom saw each other the down pour started.
If you have never been to Trump National in Jupiter, You are missing out on one of the most beautiful wedding locations here in South Florida. The landscaping inside the grounds is first rate, the buildings have a gorgeous old world style to them. There are lots of pillars which work great for bridal portraits. There are also beautiful lakes which will make your wedding pictures look amazing.
I was very lucky to have Angelica (The Bride) for this wedding. She is one of those people who just loves photos and wants her pictures to be amazing. Don't get me wrong, every bride wants beautiful photos. However, some brides and grooms will do almost anything to get that great wedding Portrait.
As a wedding photographer, it important to strike a balance between getting your shots and making sure you don't take over the entire wedding timeline. Wedding photographer have to make sure they get all the important photos while also capturing the beautiful creative photos. As beautiful as the indoor ballroom is at Trump National Jupiter, the reality is that we were indoors with it pouring out doors. I spent about 40 minutes shooting inside the venue.
Finally after about 40 minutes the rain started to taper off. It was still a slight drizzle when I took the bride and groom out for the walking umbrella shots. Then the second they started walking the rain poured down again. That kept us indoors while the staff and bride decided the ceremony had to be indoors. Sure enough after everything for the ceremony was set up indoors the rain stopped and the sun came out. I quickly seized the opportunity to great a few bridal shots.
Even though the ceremony was indoors it was still beautiful. After the ceremony the groom who worked for Trump National was able to grab a golf cart so that he could take us to a few more beautiful places.
Working as a photographer in South Florida you have to always be ready for any weather related event. Aside from rain, photographer also need to have an understanding of how their camera gear especially lenses. Wedding photographers here in South Florida can't simply go from indoor air-conditioning to outdoor heat. This is most true in the summer months. It gets very humid here in the summer. The second you head outdoors your lens will fog and it could take about 15 minutes for it to clear enough for use. Since I alway bring at least 2 cameras to a wedding or event I can set a camera outdoors and let it clear before doing out door photos.
While it true that you have to be ready for rainy weather at any time here is South Florida, you also have a huge choice of wedding locations. Having been photographing weddings in Florida for over 15 years I have worked in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Palm Beach, Delray Beach, Boca Raton, and Orlando. If you are planning your wedding in Dade, Broward and Palm Beach Counties I'm familiar with almost every awesome wedding venue.
